  • 10:30 - 11:30: Whats new in CICS 3.2
  • This presentation will highlight the many technical innovations in the recently announced CICS TS release in the areas of application integration, reuse and service management. This includes new Web service capabilities, interconnecting CICS regions over TCP/IP, systems management and performance enhancements for TCP/IP workloads, on-line management of program libraries, support for Enterprise Workload Manager, enhancements to CPSM, and much more.

  • 11:30 - 12:30: Architectural Enhancements in CICS TS V3.
  • In this session we will take a look at the improvements made to CICS TS v3.2 to remove constraints on data tables capacity, the use of larger ESDS data sets, the removal of the limit on CICS systems using MRO/XCF connections in a sysplex and the extensions to threadsafety including for CICS File Control. CICS TS v3.2 also supports the Application Response Measurement (ARM) standard for Enterprise Workload Management - Ian will describe the benefits and features of this capability and show how CICS TS systems appear on the z/OS eWLM console.

  • 13:30 - 14:30: Using the CICS Service Flow Feature
  • Discover how you can use the new CICS Service Flow Feature to create business services by composing a sequence of CICS application interactions. These business services can be called like any other CICS program and be readily published as Web services in an SOA by exploiting the Web services capabilities of CICS TS V3.1. This approach complements and extends the Web services capabilities offered in CICS for use with composed CICS applications.

  • 14:45 - 15:45: Coding and Debugging Java Applications in CICS
  • Discover what Java support in CICS is all about by learning how to configure, run and debug your Java applications inside of CICS. This session provides an explanation of JCICS terminology and the capabilities of the JCICS API. Learn to configure Java in CICS and to enhance the performance of your Java programs. If anything goes wrong it'll be useful to know how to debug them too! See how CICS has fully embraced the Java language and how it can interact with programs written in any of the CICS supported languages.

  • 15:45 - 16:15: CICS Tools
  • The aim of the presentation is to inform the audience of the three main tools that can assist customers in the migration from CICS 1.3, 2.x or 3.1 to CICS 3.2. They are CICS Interdependency Analyzer for investigation of what commands and resources are used by transactions within a CICS Service; CICS Configuration Manager for managing CSD's across various environments, systems and release level and finally CICS Performance Analyzer for an in-depth analysis of CICS systems, based on System Management Facility (SMF) records collected ; CICS data (SMF 110), DB2 accounting (SMF 101), MQ Series accounting (SMF 116) and System Logger (SMF 88).
