The purpose of the CICS Working Group is threefold. Firstly for IBM to describe new functions and features of the CICS family. Secondly for Working Group members, IBM or Vendors to share how they have exploited CICS. Lastly for the members to discuss common problems and issues with any of the CICS-related products they are using.
The CICS working group meets three or four times a year at various locations around the UK to discuss all aspects of the CICS family and their related vendor software products. A typical meeting will consist of:
- latest news and announcements from IBM
- three or four main presentations from IBM, ISVs or Members
- an open User contact and problems session
- a Requirements session (when appropriate)
- an open forum on a topical issue
The CICS Working Group is a self-financing group with costs being met from meeting fees. Attendance fees at meetings are dependent on location but are normally in the order of £50-60 per day including lunch for single day meetings or in the order of £250 including hotel accommodation and all meals for two day meetings.
Attendees at the CICS Working Group are typically systems programmers / systems integrators although a number of sessions and attendees are more focused on application development.
